Workshop

I can't believe I'm hearing this. Who do these people think they are? What do they know about writing? They couldn't write a coherent sentence if they were being coached by Hemingway. Christ, they're just college kids. Well, most of them. The older ones are worse; they think time has given them something the others haven't earned. Here they all sit, criticizing my work.

"There aren't any clear images in the scene. In fact, there doesn't appear to be a clearly defined scene anywhere in the story."

Images! Christ, what does she mean by images? She can't even decide on the color for her hair: on one side it's orange, the other side's purple. What does that tell you about whether she could recognize good writing? Why am I listening to this?

"The story rambles, moving from place to place and from the present to the past without transitions to let the reader know there is a change."

Change. Change. What does he know about change? The snot-nosed kid probably doesn't change his underwear regularly. And he talks to me about change. Ha!
